What models are currently available that allow for firmware upgrades w/ 3rd party firmware? I know the WRT54GL, but are their any others?

Lurk around also in other firmware forums and you will find the information you are looking for.

As already stated, in previous posts and/or links to discussions on this exact same question... :)

The current production model of the WRT54G series that can accept third party firmware are:

    WRT54GS, any model.
    WRT54GL (which is a re-boxed WRT54G V4).

And, if you are lucky, you may find:

WRT54G (if you can look at the serial numbers and avoid ones starting in CDFB).

ANY of the above take third party firmware. The GS and GL are readily available. The G V4 and prior would be old stock, but check places like Walmart where stock on tech stuff doesn't churn very fast, and you might get lucky (I did).

If you are mail-ordering, order the GS or GL. They run $65-75 USD at most places in the US I've seen, give or take a few bucks.

All that you are likely to find in stores will be 16MB units. The WRT54GS 32MB units went the way of the dodo in the latest hardware versions. If you want a 32MB unit, you'll have to do some serious digging to find a GS with a serial number that doesn't have a "6" in the 4th position. If you don't know why you'd want a 32MB unit, then chances are you don't need one. ;)
