I'm just sort of curious as to what is the expected lifespan of some of this Linksys gear. I've been running my WRT54G 24/7 for the last year now without any problems how long do they live under normal conditions?

I have a WAP54G at home running as a repeater and it passes the wifi signal from a friend down the street and into my office. It's been flashed with Must Die and I'm running it at a higher power setting. Question is, it's up in the top of my garage will it live this summer when it's 100 degrees out there? What will konk first, the power supply? Will the unit lock up or become unstable or will it just quit one day?

Most of my linksys router last about 5 yrs. The ones that died usually has more than 1 amp power supply. The transformer of these routers usually is the first thing to go. ver. 1 of WRT54G does usually last very long as the amprage is high if my memory serves me correctly. I do not recommend you put it on the roof, heat kills electronics easily!
