    Do you have a WRT54G V2.2/V3 or WRT54GS V1.1/V2?
There is a know problem with the linksys driver for these versions.
Should be fixed in the next official linksys firmware (and next hyperwrt based on that).

I believe i have the same problem. I have a v2.2 WRT54G and i can not download any file from my ISP's mirror without the download dropping out or the modem crashing. My typical d/l speed is ~600k/s and i can download for up to 5 mins, till the speed completely drops to 0 (suddenly).

I've tried sveasoft alchemy, dd-wrt, official 3.03.06, the new beta 4.0.something, hyper wrt (based on 3.03.06) but all of them fail with the same problem. I don't use wireless, it is disabled so this won't have any impact on the problem. :(
