Which exact firmware do I need?

Sorry for the N00b-ness, but I'm a d-link convert who just pulled in a WRT54G for $19 AR. Now I'd like to load up the works into the firmware.

I'm confused by the number of alternative firmware revs and the lack of documentation. The features that I'm looking for are the Power boost that I heard Sveasoft can offer to 250mw and the portal options and bridge options.

So I have read that all of these features are built into Alchemy 1.0, but I wanted to make sure that they weren't beta stuff that I would have to buy from Sveasoft. Then I was wondering what the exact name is for the firmware version that I need to use with a version 2 (hardware) router? and finally, are there any tricks that i need to know so that I don't brick the router.

Most of the 3rd party firmwares provide the power boost.

Alchemy 1.0, IIRC, supports all versions and is free for public download so you don't need to pay anything. You do need to pay if you want support from Sveasoft.

How not to brick your router? Be very careful and have backup plans if you brick it.

I would also check out DD-WRT which is based off of Alchemy but with added features.
