when I look at AP mode, there's an AP Client, but it works ONLY with another WAP54G
I'd like to find a firmware to make my WAP54G as Client (Infrastructure/AdHoc), in order to make my PS2 connect to wireless

Set up as ap client. tell it to do a site survey to find wrt and all should work. This is how I use my xbox.

    but then
how about to use WAP to pull wifi signal to hard wired network?
I have WRT54G, but I wouldn't use it to pull hotspot signal in (I need to reserve ALL LAN port, and I don't want to expose all devices to public)
then I have to find out how to make WAP54G as wireless client, because I have to be sure it's UNIVERSAL, not only for Linksys wireless AP/router

Please try to explain your setup?

do you need wireless clients to connect to wap? or just another wired network? My wap connects straight to my xbox

    I did it
to make sure it can connect the hotspot, I did an experiment
I have 2 routers (netgear WGT624, Linksys WRT54G), then I use netgear one to do the test...
I have to enable SSID broadcast once to let the AP picks the router info (use AP client mode and do site survey), on MAC filter (I use it for security), I have to enter the MAC info of the LAN card connecting to AP (not MAC of AP)
it's done, I can connect using WAP54G to netgear WGT624
    here is the setup
use WAP54G to pull the hotspot signal, then go to WRT54G or WGT624 WAN port, then use the wireless router to re-transmit and share the wifi without to expose the devices on my own network
