I have a Linksys WRT54GS 1.0 and would like to use shibby or toastman. Which firmware is the most reliable and stable (no bugs). I may need to use the bandwidth limiter function along with QOS. Can you recommend me one please? Thank you.

I use Toastman - stable and fast... but toastman and shibby are quite similar... its up to you!

I would say that you're much more likely to get a stable build with Shibby than Toastman because Toastman's builds have way more being added to them all the time.

Shibby's builds are more for somebody who needs day to day stability, and Toastman's builds are more for enthusiasts, hobbyists, bleeding edge addicts, etc.

If you need simple home site with casual using you should get Shibby... Toastman has more features, so like Gaius said it is for geeks :D new features = sometimes problems with stability, but I havent got any for 4months... my router is stable, no restarts or something like that...

Yeah I should say it's not that there's anything inherently wrong with Toastman's builds. Most of them work fine for most people, but a significant enough portion of his builds will break something for somebody's router, which is reason enough not to flash them if you're only looking for stability.

Thanks for the responses but I meant which build version is the best to use with either of these? Sorry I should have been more clear.

I installed the latest version of Shibby K24 Tomato-ND-1.28.-088V and everything seems to work great. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Don't forget to clear NVRAM at least once after you've upgraded to a different Tomato build to ensure you don't have any problems in the future.

I don't remember if I cleared the NVRAM so I did it just in case. Thanks Gaius.
