Hello. I have a WAP54G which I bought 3 years ago. Recently I am thinking to buy a linksys wireless router to replace my wired SMC router. I read the manual that if I want to use my WAP54G as a repeater, I must buy WRT54G. I notice there are other linksys wireless routers that begins with WRT54G, e.g. WRT54GS, WRT54GL. Are they of the same type as the original WRT54G ? Can I use my WAP54G as repeater for these routers ?

    Thanks.

yes you can use wap54g on all of them, they are same routers but some have special features and some are only smaller. go to linksys.com and read about those features to find which one is best for you.

Get the WRT54GL (and don't believe the marketing hype around the WRT54GS). You can do stuff with a GL, while the other newer models are pretty limited. If you can't get a GL, get a WRT54xx with a version lower than 5.

If you have only wired computers, why buy a wireless one? And if is for the brand Linksys+Tomato :)biggrin:)...then...wireless OFF 'till needed available. My two cents.
