Which fork should I put on my new BUFFALO WHR-HP-G54? It will be used for gaming, VoIP and torrenting by me and regular browsing/streaming by my 3 housemates.

My personal recommendation is Victek's RAF. It's never done me wrong and I have a very similar setup & needs that you have.

Is Victek's RAF just enhanced QoS in some way? I'm having trouble determining exactly what his version does differently.

It's generally just very solid. All the differences to the then stock 1.25 are here and he's working on a 1.28 now

Very solid means very stable? I read the differences listed and can't tell why they matter (mostly from not quite understanding them.)

Yes stable. IMHO the Vectek mod is the most stable. I do not use any more because I now have a RT-N16 but when I used a WRT54GL Vectek was by far the one that just worked. I think that is why most folks say use Vectek when asked.

Cool. I'll try Victek's when my router arrives. Thanks!

I agree, Victek mod was the best flavor of Tomato I had ever run.

I had problems with my 30/5 connection using Victek and using regular tomato. I ended up going with DD-WRT on my WHR-HP-G54 router.

I miss tomato - but I don't need to reboot my router to keep my full 30+/5 Mbps speeds.

    Just an FYI.

I don't know what this 30+/5 notation means. What does that mean?

    30mb down and 5mb up.

    Aha, thanks, makes sense now.

So those settings didn't work with Tomato for some reason?

Never had prob with my Buffalo on 22/1 with Toastman QoS and hosts adblock but with wifi off (could explain why) with CPU load between 0.5/0.8 when watching TV..

    See my signature.
