    I just purchased my WRT54G on Sunday. My serial number is:CDF80E437314
    Not sure if it's a 2 or 3 version. According to the known serial numbers it's version 3, but when I check the hardware version it shows a hardware version 2
    Can anyone explain. Thank you!

    Known serial numbers (first 4 characters) vs versions / Chipsets:

    WRT54G
    CDF0 = WRT54G v1.0 / ADM6996L Chipset
    CDF1 = WRT54G v1.0 / ADM6996L Chipset
    CDF2 = WRT54G v1.1 / ADM6996L Chipset
    CDF3 = WRT54G v1.1 / ADM6996L Chipset
    CDF5 = WRT54G v2.0 / ADM6996L Chipset
    CDF7 = WRT54G v2.2 / BCM5325EKQM Chipset
    CDF8 = WRT54G v3.0 / BCM5325EKQM Chipset

    Also check your hardware version using this link to your router:

    if you care to look at the forum sticky you see

    http://www.linksysinfo.org/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=4723

    using the "SysInfo.htm" is not recommended, this gives on some versions the same answer and therefore cannot be used as an accurate way of finding out which model version you have.

    Why some people insist on using this sysinfo.htm is beyond me. it is mentioned enough that it shows incorrect data.

    forget sysinfo.htm exists

    yea i think that best way of finding out what revision you have is by looking @ the serial #

    Look underneath the router. Check FCCID.
