Why are manufacturers NOT putting out 108Mbps PCI adapters?

I can't understand why manufacturers are making 108Mbps Access Points and PC cards while they are NOT making 108Mbps PCI adapters? It just doesn't make sense. The technology is the same, the only difference is that one uses the PCMCIA sl{u}t and the othe the PCI sl{u}t.

I want to testbed the 108Mbps with AP and desktop PC's and I can't!

Only Belkin, Netgear and D-Link have PCI versions of the MIMO adapters. The Belkin and D-LINK versions use a PCMCIA to PCI adapter. The Netgear is a true PCI adapter. Do not mix brands use only one manufacturer. Linksys promised to have a PCI and USB version out by spring, but I guess since there has been a major disagreement about 802.11N they may have chosen not to bring out the other versions until the dust settles. You can use the WPC54GX in a Ricoh PCMCIA to PCI adapter, but I would either wait for Linksys or go to another manufacturer.
It adds to the costs to use a PCMICA to PCI adapter. The best price is on EBay for about 29.99 plus shipping.

Well this site has anounced a WMP54GX PCI adapter and a WAP54GX access point using the SRX technology. So you will be able to get a Linksys product.

I saw the product, real fancy antenna. I hope the price isn't as fancy!-)

Netgear has a nice Mimo Device with 7 internal antennas. They also have alot of other nice stuff. I'm not stuck on Linksys products, but I also don't have the money to buy one from each producer! :p

The WRT54GX uses only one channel, whereas one of the other manufacturer was reported to use two, so it is friendier to nearby wireless networks. If you are using multiple access points, this maybe a factor. If the WAP54GX is available, it should be cheaper than a WRT54GX. Beklin uses the same hardware as Linksys does.
