Why does my linksys card always pick the crappy network?

I'm using a wireless 54g router and card, both made by linksys, and the default linksys network utilities. WHY FOR GOD'S SAKE does it automatically pick the 45% network from 3 doors over over a nice 80% network in the next bloody room? I have to reselect, release and renew at least 3 bloody times a day. Irony, when I had a crappy wireless B network, I never had this problem.

are the two networks using the same SSID? then change the SSID on yours to something more appropriate. then make sure it only is setup to connect to that SSID.

Yes.. they are using the same ssid... but again... why doesn't it do the simple common sense thing and connect to whatever network has the most powerful signal? In fact, it does the exact opposite?

is there any incryption on the other SSID? you obviusly have setup the Wireless configuration to join "ANY" wirless network it finds, thus whether the signal is good or not is irrelevant.

if you change the SSID and make sure the Wireless client joins only selected SSIDs (your one) it should fix the issue.

experience allows you one thing. never think for yourself, as others have done this already for you. it may not be your to your liking, but it is has been done and you or I have very little input into its end result. :)
