Why does Windows XP connect to WAP54G and not WRE54G?

    Dear all,

I noticed most of you all are using WRT54G with WRE54G. So, I couldn't find a solution for my problem. I am having a weird problem.

I have setup both WAP54G and WRE54G accordingly using the web browser. They have the same settings:

    1) SSID: KAE
    2) Channel: 5
    3) Subnet:
    4) Gateway:
    5) Security: Disabled

My PC uses a D-Link Wifi USB Adapter. The problem I am facing is; Windows XP always connects to WAP54G although its signal is very weak. The WRE54G signal is much more stronger. I can "ping" both devices.

Did I make any mistake? I know Windows XP will decide which device to connect to. But, I thought a stronger signal is a better choice.

I hope you guys and gals can help me out. I had even called the Linksys support but I still can't solve the problem.

Thanks lots! Your help will be much appreciated. :)
