Does anyone have any idea why should my WRT54GSV4 Wifi output be jumping from about -50- to -20 every second.

Sometimes its only down to around -30 but most of the time its -50

The only WiFi device i have running is my iPhone & I have just disconected it which made no difference.

There are no channels overlapping except some low level ones 2 channels away

The only non overlapping channels are 1, 6 and 11. 2 channels away are overlapping. If your router picks up a signal from two channels away it will throttle back. What channel are you on and what channel are the neighbor's access points on? Do you have any 2.4 Ghz wireless telephones, they will cause interference?

Thanks for the reply, I have neighbours all around so i cannot find a free channel.

I realise that there will be some interference & throttling , but every second regularly the output going from -30 down to around -50 then back to -30, very strange. It's almost like a switch was being turned on & off.

We do have a cordless phone, but I will have to check what frequency it is on. You could be onto something there.
