Why is it the 1.0 routers seemed to work great - but then Linksys made newer versions with different hardware that cause all kinds of trouble? Why change hardware? Why does the new hardware cause so many problems? Regarding the problems - is the new hardware just crappy? Or is it an issue with the firmware? If its the firmware, is it possible that all issues could be worked out? I'm asking that because I have three other routers that are all rather old now - and none of them have had any firmware updates in a long time, and none of their firmware fixes long standing issues. Did the original 1.0 54G have lots of issues until its firmware matured? I just spent $90 at Best Buy for my WRT54GS 2.0 unit. i've heard SO much praise regarding the WRT54G. i got the GS model to make it more "future proof" since its loaded with extra memory. Was that a mistake? Should I have gone with the cheaper 54G model? Should I have gone for a version 1.0 model of the 54G or GS on eBay since they are better than the later models? Should I just wait for new firmware to come out? So far, the WRT54GS 2.0 has performed better than my other routers. there has been ONE possible issue. when im downloading lots of stuff with BitTorrent, World of Warcraft gets kinda flaky. closing my BT client (Azureus) seems to make the game run just fine. I'm using the 4.05.05 firmware.
