If your going to use the antenna on the computer then yes it should help. My experience with external antenna has been mixed. I have bought and returned many an antenna that has not lived up to my exptectation. It seems good, although i have never used a usb interface. If you decide to go that route please keep us posted.

just got it in the mail, i didnt get the one i orignally wanted.

I ended up getting the shorter one, with only 6 or 7db instead of 11 on the 99.00$ one.

its not a bad antenna, has magnetic base, can be moved in diffrent directions, but isnt truly omni. uses a RF sma that screws into a portable usb connector.

includes a driver disc with some taiwan made monitoring software

has a 15dBm and transmission distance if you decide to use it in TX or RX mode attached to a router.

    unscrews from base in otherwords

im picking up one extra AP in my area that wasnt previously avaible with the stock WUSB54 USB antenna..so i guess its good

and finally my roomate can stay connected with WPA2 encryption with this little guy.

not pro level, but good enough

not pro level, but good enough my only gripe is the RF cable is way to short, only 2 feet! im going to need to buy an extension so i can move it around the room if need be
