    i everyone,

apologies for the lengthy post but this is one of those problems that's driving me insane, i would REALLY like a fix for this without having to spend on more hardware. i'm attaching a jpeg of my home network which i edited with photoshop to show the connections clearly.

i have a wifi network consisting of two computers, a server (vista ultimate) and a media center pc (XPsp2) hooked to a Linksys HR200 Home Wireless-G router with latest (and only) firmware. my ethernet wired connection between my router and the server goes from "connected" to "limited or no connectivity" (no LAN/internet access whatsoever), this only happens in the first few minutes of gaming/video card stressing on the server. atitool's artifact scan (high CPU/GFX utilization) also triggers it but dual instances of Prime95 (cpu only)don't affect the network even after several hours of running.

the only way to fix it is by cold booting AND ensuring that the power from the motherboard is also fully drained for about 20 seconds during the cold boot so that the onboard LAN (used to connect to router) is properly reset. cold booting without draining the mobo power results in the "no connectivity" icon coming back on the next restart and there's no way to fix it through software.

what i have tried to solve the problem:

i reinstalled windows xp on the server thinking it was the corruption of the OS...it had no effect. i then installed vista ultimate on the server, still no effect. the problem seems to have started after i installed the router, as i was previously connected to my DSL modem via cat5. resetting the router has no effect, however the wirelessly connected MCPC remains connected to the LAN and the internet while the server starts exhibiting this problem. this suggests the problem is between the server and the router but, as i mentioned previously the problem gets fixed by cold booting/draining mobo power from the server.

this connectivity problem does not occur when the server is connected directly to the modem. i've tried changing the cable between the server and router, tried several different cables but no change.

when the network is working properly, the speeds are pretty good, file transfer is at around 2MBps (16Mbps) and i can stream HD movies back and forth from one PC to the other.

so basically, gaming and atitool artifact testing etc. trigger the no connectivity problem where i lose not only internet access but also LAN to the wired computer, while the wireless computer remains unaffected and connected to the router/internet. i even changed the shielded PCI-E power cable running from my PSU to my GFX to two shielded dual molex cables using the adapter that came with my PSU hoping it was a power related issue but that didn't help either. i even upgraded my gfx card from an x800 pro to an x1950 and i'm still having the same problem. i have the latest and only available firmware for this router. what do i do?

i also chatted with linksys support who recommended that i change the duplex mode of the LAN connection from auto to 10/100 full duplex but that didn't help. it also resulted in my getting disconnected from chat after which i'm now following up on the problem here. i think they were on the right track but there's so many settings under the advanced tab and i don't know what they're all for. this is most inconvenient as i must power the pc off completely in order to reestablish internet/LAN connectivity. if i can even find a way to reset the LAN without powering off the system, that would be a big step up from where i am now...please help.
