Will we see a new HW version of the NSLU2 anytime soon?

    Hello everyone,

I have been using the NSLU2 for quite some time now. As a matter of fact, I purchased it over a year ago on 10/14/2004. After tremendous initial problems with networking issues when coping large files or losing access right, the firmware version V2.3R31 has worked out best for me. The device is working with 2 Maxtor OneTouch 250GB drives in non-NTFS mode and performing a weekly backup from HD1 to HD2.

I am thinking of adding another NSLU2 and actually thinking of downgrading the firmware to V2.3R31 after reading about all the issues with newer releases. I am pretty confident with that 'older' version and know how to deal with the very few issues it has. Upgrading to a newer firmware version is a scary thought for me thinking of all the time that might be spent and wasted.

Despite those facts, I am curious if a newer hardware version of the NSLU2, possibly NSLU2v2 or who knows, entire different NAS from Linksys is in the works and soon to be released.
    Any ideas?

    Thank you!
    Wolfgang K.
