Win XP & WRT54GS problem

    Hello all,

I have had a WRT54G running satori for over a year. I heard the GS can handle mixed (B & G) better so I bought a V1.1 GS.

First of all I loaded satori on it, not reading the fine print I thought I had bricked my router. I connected wirelessly and uploaded HyperWRT. I had problems with file sharing after that and could not find the disable loopback function. So I then uploaded(hard wired now) Alchemy7*, which says it's compatiable w/v1.1.

Big O/S problems in Win XP Pro(desktop - hardwired) and Win XP home(Laptop - wireless). I could not use explorer. I could get to the internet and to the router setup but 'My Computer/explorer' would not work. There were huge waiting times for the machines to boot too.

I finally hooked the ole reliable "G" back up. I'm not sure what went wrong. Is the good firmware available for the GSv1.1? My current set-up is a linksys cable modem connected to the router (in my basement).
I have a Hyperlink 12dBi omni mounted in my attic so I can share my signal w/a neighbor across the street. All computers connectly wireless use G cards. I tried a B card with this setup but was continually dropping the connection.

Is there stable firmware for the GSv1.1? Why did my O/S go 'tango-uniform'? Can I use file sharing w/HyperWRT? - I must have had something set up wrong.

Your OS has nohing to do with your router so I dont understand what does your Explorer problems have to do with your WRT.

Also never upload a firmware thru wireless.
