    what do you mean?
do you mean that you will be using ethernet instead of usb to conect comptuers. or eithernet over usb?

i think that if your clients are more than 100 feet you will start to lose speed. so i think that you should use usb. or you can always use wireless. just buy a cheap access point for $30 the only downside is that you need all of your clients to have wireless nics.

you can set up a wired "lan" via usb bit its hard to find usb cables that will do it and it is more expensive to do .
the theroetical bandwidth of usb is higher but it isnt really much faster, if at all.

buy a 15.00 dollar hub/switch and go from there have a buddy or someone you know go in on a spool of cat5 and connectors build your own cables it will be much cheaper. go up on ebay and look for stuff.

now you can use a usb-ethernet adapter which works pretty good but i recomment internal cards.

it is faster and more exact to just use equipment that was designed for the purpose and not equip that was designed for devices.
