have done a number of wireless indoors with no problems but now i have a couple clients wanting to go wireless from there office to there home. home is about 500 feet from there building which has dsl.

need some suggestions as to what type of wireless router to use and antennas that will give good connection speed from that distance.

    thanks ahead of time.

just about any router that has a detachable antenna connector will do the 500 foot job.
but the WRT54G and gs have the most options i have seen for the price.
you would prolly only need one to hit the house. but how many computers are there?
you may be able to just use a decent wnic for that.
if not you will have to get another.

start out with a WRT54G(s) and flash it with new firmware.
then up the power a little (too much and it will die early) some say no more than 56mw others say more.
i say if you go that high add a small fan to cool it down.

antennas, you will want a decent directional antenna. not that the hardware cant go 500 ft without it. but the small beam keeps others out of your stuff.

also check to see if there is a good Line of Sight becasue if there isnt it wont work well/at all.
also i have seen IR links that long maybe go that route... if the los is good and they want a little more security.

only prob is that ir is slow. i dont think it is slower than dls though so no real issue

    hope that helped.
