Wireless download speed problems ?!

I have the WRT54G v2.2, I noticed that through the wireless connection my download speed is half than the wired one, but the strange thing is that the upload speed is exactly the same.

    Firmware: official v4.007
QoS enabled, port 1 has high priority and the Flow control is enabled.
    Security enabled, WPA Pre-Shared Key
    Signal quality: "Excellent"

All tests were perfomed with http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/
during the wireless speed tests, the wired had no network activity (idle)

Did some speed measurments with iPerf (between wired and wireless), the results shows that I have 22Mbits/sec bandwidth, so its only when I use the internet that the upload speed goes bad...(from 1.5Mbits to 0.7Mbits)

    Any ideas ?

What type of connection do you have? Most ISPs providing DSL provide to not provide the same upload and download speeds. My ISP provides 3.0 mbs down and 768 kbs up. When I was using Earthlink Cable iI got 5.0 mbs down and I believe 2.0 mbs down. Using IPERF my throughput is about 43 mbs with the WRT54GX/WPC54GX combination, but my Internet speed tests come in at 2.76mbs/728kbs.

Re: Wireless upload speed problems ?!

I dont think its related to the upload/download speeds my ISP provide, since the download/upload speeds at the wired equals to 2*download/upload at the wireless, meaning that only the download speed is affected which is odd.

Another thing I have noticed is that although my laptop has 11g card it doesnt utilize even 50% of the bandwidth, when testing with iPerf I looked at the network tab in the task manager and it shows that only ~45% of the bandwidth is utilized, which is even more odd cause both uses the 11g (through the WRT54G obviously) which suppose to provide 54Mbits/sec and not only 22Mbits/sec...

Need your help on that guys...

Re: Wireless upload speed problems ?!

You will only get 22-24Mbits/sec with a 802.11g. The MIMO devices will give you about 43 Mbits/sec and they connect at 108Mbits/sec using IPERF to measure throughput and with a RWIN size of 64KB. Connection speed is not throughput on wireless devices. It is not like a full duplex wired NIC.
