Wireless ISP Router?

    Hi all,

Need some advice - I've got a WRT54G v3.3 that I lug around with me to hotels, some of which do have wireless access...

Question is, with the Tofu 13 firmware, how am I able to make the WRT54G act as a wireless repeater/router?

I wish to be able to "share" that single wireless connection from the ISP to the other wireless clients.

I understand that I may put the WRT54G in bridge mode, but that would mean that I HAVE to use wires from the WRT54G to my laptop(s).

    Thanks a million in advance!

You can't. What you want to do can't be done with standard routing protocols. You would need another wireless access point or router to plug in back-to-back.

    Hi bluebox,

Thanks for the reply. I somehow managed to *blunder* into making my WRT54G connect to the paid AP outside in "client mode"... Obviously as you pointed out, my laptop has to use a Cat5 connection...

Too bad, I'll have to buy another bridge and lug that around too...
