    Hello,
I would like to setup my wireless network with just wireless computers. I just bought the Linksys WRT54GX and there is no phone line, DSL modem, near my desktop. I'm going to buy a wireless adapter for my desktop but for now I only have a laptop with wireless card. I can direct connect my laptop but want it to be wireless also. Is there a guide that will walk me through this setup?
    Thanks,

If you have no ISP (i.e. Internet Service Provider), you do not have to have a router such as the WRT54GX. You can set up each computer in Ad Hoc mode, not infrastructure mode. Set the SS-ID, channel to the same setting on each wireless NIC, give each wireless NIC a unique IP Address for example, set the first computer to 192.168.1.1, the next to 192.168.1.2, etc. You have to enable print and file sharing on for each computer and set up a sharing on youe drives or folders.

    Hello,
Thank you for your quick response.
I do have Verizon DSL. If I connect my laptop direct to DSL for ISP connection than remove cable and connect the router, do I have to direct connect laptop to router or can I connect to router with my wireless card in my laptop? I guess what I'm trying to say is do I have to have a computer connected by cable to the router for DSL and sharing or can I just use my wireless card in my laptop?
    Thanks,
