I need to upgrade my network, and I'm just learning about the SRX products. I want to go with the WRT54GX4 router and the WPC54GX4 for my notebook. I see a WMP54GX PCI adapter card, but no WMP54GX4 card. Is there not a PCI card for the SRX400 family of products?

    Thanks for your help.

The WMP54GX4 can be found on the FCC OET website: https://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/oet/cf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits&RequestTimeout=500&calledFromFrame=N&application_id=557859&fcc_id='Q87-WMP54GX4'

Hopefully it wil be soon available.

Its now listed in the Best Buy RSS database.

If you do a description search containing SRX, it will bring up all the SRX stuff, now including the WMP54GX4.

The instock date is 4-23, but it can be anywhere around that (+ or - a week).

    List price was $109.99

NOTE: This is not BestBuy.com, this is an in-store database for Realtime Stock Statuses

the adapter itself doesn't show at linksys support pages just the model number appears suggesting they are getting ready to put it on the market OK I got the wrt54gx4 and through put is increased to the wusb54g the only problem in setup is with changing the SSID and enabling encryption when I set it to either wpa2 or wpa (personal) with no SSID change the wireless comp doesn't see the routers SSID soooooooooo I'll be trying to get that to work today think I will completly uninstall the wusb54g from the desktop and let the router broadcast in wep then reinstall the adapter side and see if it shows have a good one

SSID off + Encryption is stupid to setup.

If someone wants to get into your network, encryption is the only thing that is going to stop them. SSID off will stop WirelessZero from finding the network but there are hundreds of programs to sniff for them.

Just use a WPA password for security and convenience with a 8-64 digit password for your network.

Or you can go WEP and use the long random keycode that uses, but you will have to enter that code into every wireless computer/device.

SSID broadcast off does not prevent applications such as Netstumbler from finding your network. It is recommended if you use WPA and a long random key. The keys changes periodically so it is very difficult to crack WPA AES.

guys let me clarify the SSID on the wrt54gx4 is at default named linksys and set to broadcast when I attempt to setup wpa personal I do not see the routers ssid when scanning for networks from the wireless comp if I set wpa personal or wpa2 personal with either tkip or aes I still do not see the router broadcast SSID on the wireless side thru show avail networks I set up wep encryption and no problem I may want to try setting the router to broadcast B only so the signal gets stronger anyways at least wep is now working I recieved the router on 3/27 and the firmware version is 1.00.09 so I may try upgrading firmware be back soon to report progress

Just remember to reset the router to factory defaults and do the firmware upgrade from a wired connection. Reset to factory defaults after the firmware upgrade and then change your setting.

You must be the first person in the world to get this adapter last week - what is your secret? Where did you get it from? Why don't you reply?

    WMP54GX4 PCI card

I have a computer that is about 150 feet away and 20 ft down form a WRT54Gv2 wireless router running Thibor 15c with WDS on. It is in a separate building and needs to connect wireless.

    Option 1:
Is the Linksys Wireless G PCI Network Card SRX400 WMP54GX4 SRX compatible with the WRT54G with DDwrt 24 or Thibor's 15c? cost about $45 to $55.
If compatible, will it give me better connection at this distance?

Or is it better to use my WMP11 (already own) or buy an WMP54 ($30) and get an external 7dbi antenna ($6) for either?
Will it give me similar results as the WMP54GX4.

It will be used for e-mail and limited file transfer to the server. I'm leaning toward the WMP54GX4 PCI card.

Any other possibilities I have not thought of?
