As the title states my Netgear needs .chk from the default firmware but the TomatoUSB firmware is built as .trx. Can I simply rename the file to the .chk extension?
Or is there a firmware that I should flash to it inbetween.

    Thanks for your help,
    DF

since the above post I have managed to somehow brick the router. I installed the .chk ddwrt firmware so that I could then flash it from ddwrt to tomatousb. After I flashed it to tomatousb mini version (mipsr2, k26) I can no longer get an IP from the router. If I set my ip manually to 192.168.1.2 I can still get the login page for 192.168.1.1 but the login and password that I had to set for ddwrt doesn't work. Pushing in the reset pin at the back of the unit doesn't work; I've only tried holding it for up to a minute.

Any ideas or have I really bricked this router for good? First impression of TomatoUSB: weak :(
