WPA issues with WVC54GCA ?

I've been having a difficult time getting my new WVC54GCA up and running. My network uses static IPs with WPA Pre-Shared Key as well as MAC filtering (permit-only list). The camera works fine with the ethernet connection, but will not join the network in wireless mode. I've gone over all settings and they are correct. I really don't want to disable MAC filtering or encryption.

Is this a known issue? If so, what's the fix?

If the WVC54GCA is anything like the WVC54GC, (which I think it is, just with audio added), it would support WPA/TKIP only, but not WPA/AES. Therefore, set your AP to be WPA-PSK/TKIP, or WPA-PSK/TKIP+AES.

You could turn the MAC filtering off temporarily, try it, and if it works, you know you have a MAC filtering issue.

Also, there were/are some issues with GCs not connecting to all kinds of APs, and I suspect it may also be the case for GCAs. Make sure you have the latest firmware on the camera. For the GC the US firmware was later and better than ETSI/other country versions.

Note though, that the MAC filtering just provides for a fuzzy feeling of security, but does not provide any real security, as spoofing the MAC address is the easiest thing to do. If you use WPA you already have pretty good security - the MAC filtering adds less than 1% (IMO) in terms of security.

    Thanks, HennieM!

You're correct about the encryption. My router (WRT54GL) was setup for WPA/AES. I changed it to WPA/TKIP and it worked after disconnecting/reapplying power to the camera. I have other wireless devices on the network, all using WPA/AES, so I set the router to WPA/TKIP+AES. Another power reset to the camera and it worked.

    Thanks again!
