WPC54G PCMCIA Slot not working

I have an 'older' Dell Latitude running WindowsXP (recent upgrade). When I slide the WPC54G card in either PCMCIA slot, the laptop does not detect the card.

If I put the card into other laptops, it works.
When I put other PCMCIA devices into the slots, they are detected.

    Linksys support was no help.

    Any ideas?

Which PCMCIA cardbus adapter do you have in the Dell. Make certain you are using the latest driver for it available at the Dell support site. Some of the O2 Micro cardbus adapters are problematic. They either freeze due to interupt conflicts or they cannot supply enough power. Look at your system event log and see if you are getting error or warnings.

I am willing to bet that you tried downloading the driver from the Linksys website. I had this problem with the WPC54G VERSION 1 card I am using now.

If this is the case, you need the 1.3 driver from the Linksys FTP site, NOT THE ONE ON THE SUPPORT SITE... as it will NOT work, even though it says it will on the site
