Recently upped to a WRT56G and a WPC56G. Router appears to be functioning correctly. But... notebook adapter is having issues and I can't get a connection. Tech Support is of little help.

I was able to get a connection the first day, but after about 10 minutes, the notebook would lock up hard. This only happened when booting with the old adapter.

I reinstalled the latest firmware for the router. I installed an update to the notebook's BIOS which fixes some power mode issues. After that, I could only connect to the AP but no Internet connection, no matter what. So, I reinstalled W2K. Now, no connection to the Internet ever and only random connection to the AP. Also, if the adapter is in the notebook when booting, the system locks hard at the end of the boot process. Popping it out regains control. If I reboot without the adapter in, then plug in after boot, notebook hard hangs.

Do I throw the whole thing against the wall and start over?

I had the same issue to yesterday working on a clients setup but with XP on a sony vaio. Adapter showed Excellent signal strength to no signal strength but connected with also data in and out. Tried with both static and dynmic ip addressing and same issue. AP running 128 wpk tkip and tried wep too and same issue, I didn't have a packet sniffer at the time to analyze what was causing it but suppose to work on it again later this week or next week.

    WPC54G Hangs

I am having exactly the same problem with my WPC54G card in a Sony VAIO notebook running XP w/SP2. Internet connection isn't a problem, but every so often the entire system hangs & if i take the card out most of the time the system comes back but other times i have to reset it.

I am yet to find a solution to the problem which i've been working on for 1 week now!! I've even tried 3 different WPC54G cards all with the same outcome... I hate Linksys!!!
