    Site says it does
    Online manual says it does
    Product box says it does
After about an hour of being transfered and in hold with several tech support people: "We made a mistake, the device doesnt have WPA support"

I was going to recommend one of these to a client next week, but now...

Is anyone else having problems with WPA on the WPS54G?!??

Friday I tried setting up a Motorola WPS870G which also supposedly supports WPA but couldn't get it working. As soon as I dropped the security down to WEP it connected immediately. I didn't call Motorola but what little info I could find on the web was from other frustrated people having the same problem and getting the run around from Motorola...

Is it really that hard to find a wireless print server that supports WPA?!?! *grumble*

This has been a perpetual problem. We're still waiting on a firmware fix for the previous WPS54GU2 that will support the majority of USB printers, let alone WPA.... looks like we'll be waiting a while

Got email form Carmela Sy from Linksys Tech Support Dept. After reviewing the facts explained in the email I sent, she said that the phone support guys were wrong to say that the unit does not support WPA. She said that my printer server for some reason was flashed with the wrong firmware and that I am to return the unit to the retailer (buy.com) and that a new one will be shipped to me.

Hmm, flashed with the wrong firmware... Sure, if they say so...

Would you be willing to give us an update when you receive the replacement unit? I realize it might not be right away but I'd really appreciate it!

Also, I realize that this may be a little off topic and likely to get no response in this forum, but could somebody recommend a WPA capable print server that they have had success using?!

    Can't get WPS54G to work

Since I can't get my print server problem resolved by Linksys (I was on the phone with one of their techies for over 1 1/2 hours), I searched and found this site. I hope someone here can help.

    My system has:

    Windows XP on all PC's
    Linksys Wireless-G router
    2 desktops & a laptop
    Canon i850 printer
WPS54G print server that is now disconnected :(

After several attempts to get the server working, the Linksys guy said that I probably don't have the latest firmware, so I should go to the Linksys site and get the latest. I went there, only to find that there is NO latest firmware for the WPS54G.

The setup wizard only gives you WEP. The Web setup is supposed to give you WPA-PSK TKIP only and WEP. There is supposed to be a pre-shared key in the dropdown box. When the Wireless security is selected the full menu appears and then only a partial menu appears. The full menu allows you to enter a TKIP key. There appears to be a bug in the firmware that does not allow you to make the entry.

Buy.com refunded me fo rthe WPS54G without WPA flashed in it. I went to Compusa and bought another oen this week. I just installed it and it works like a champ!

Which firmware version is on the WPS54G? My WPS54G has firmware version 6045 and WPA-PSK is unavailable. Does it support AES or only TKIP? If it is a different version maybe I can get some at Linksys to send me it. Thank you.

If you have firmware version 6046, will allow you WPA-PSK TKIP, it is not available on the Linksys support website.
