WPS54GU2 & Lexmark X1150

  1. I have the WPS54GU2 behind a WRT54G with a Lexmark X1150. Yes it is a multifunction. I'm not concerned about all the uses of the machine, but I would like to print to it.

Here is what I have done. I already had the printer files loaded on the laptop. I installed the print server for the WPS, and let it create a port. Trying to print that way was unsuccessful. I created another as TCP/IP - Local printer. I tried to set the port as Local, LPR, print server. I finally had some success under TCP/IP. I can get a test page to print, but it "hangs" at 99% finished. It won't even let me cancel the job at this point, the que just locks up. I realize that the Lexmark monitor/que is probably waiting for a response to come back from the printer. I don't know if there is a way to turn this off, or if it is a bidirectional issue. I have given the WSP a static IP, and opened all firewalls through the WRT, and Norton to this IP.

Any suggestions? If not, could anyone suggest an inexpensive printer that I can use, tried tested and true with the WRT54G setup.

    Thanks!
