WPS54GU2 wireless mode prints VERY dark to Okidata C5150N

    Hi Guys,

I have a WPS54GU2 running wirelessly in ad-hoc mode and hooked up to a Epson CX6400 and an Okidata C5150n Color Laser via the Okidata's USB 2.0 port.

What I have noticed is that if I print out color photos/graphics or even just the Okidata's color swatch test print utility, is that when printing wirelessly via the Linksys........the output drastically changes to VERY dark prints versus when I direct connect the USB on the Okidata to my laptop.

I can tweak the brightness way up from a normal setting of 0 up to say "34" in the Okidata print driver and that seems to help, but just wondering if anyone else has noticed something similar and if there are any fixes out there.

I have also printed wirelessly to the Epson CX6400 and those colors seem the right brightness/contrast.

I realize that the Okidata C5150n might be "unsupported", but just curious if anyone else is having this issue?

UPDATE: Oki says that the Oki c5150n need fully Bidirectional support or the color matching will be off.........they do not believe many of the "other manufacturers" print servers will be able to support the necessary comunication. I have tried a wireless bridge which connects to the Okidata's builtin WIRED print server and that seem to work OK with no loss of color matching data communication.

    Thx,
    Jon

    Any help appreciated,
    Thx,
    Jon

I have the same setup, but I keep getting the "Could not connect printer to LPR port" error. I was able to get my desktop to print - don't ask me how, but keep getting the error trying to get my laptop to connect. Any suggestions?
