The repeater which is guaranteed to work with the Speedtouch 580 (the Speedtouch 180 repeater) is no longer available.

Has anyone been able to extend their range by using the WRE54G with the Speedtcouh 580?
    Thanks

I'm not sure about the specifical model of the Speedtouch but i recently configured successfully a WRE54G against a Speedtouch, all you need is to configure the WRE54G directly via Ethernet, following these steps:

    1) plug ethernet (cat5/utp) cable from computer to WRE54G BEFORE plugging power cord
    2) make sure your wired/ethernet adapter has a 192.168.1.x (subnet mask 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.1.1) ip address
    3) plug power cord into WRE54G and plug it to power outlet
    4) in a web browser, open 192.168.1.240, WRE54G's web interface address
    5) tell the WRE54G the SSID, wireless specific channel, and WEP/WPA encryption key and settings of the Speedtouch
    6) IF your speedtouch is not on the 192.168.1.x subnet, give the WRE54G a new address within the Speedtouch subnet, this is not necessary if they're on the same subnet.
    7) Save, done!

No problems should arise if you do it in this order, the WRE54G has got only one important configuration page, so if you give the proper settings you can have it working in less than 5 minutes.

    Good luck!
