wrk54g question with expander

    Folks,

i am a bit desperate after all these hours trying to make this work...

I purchased a wrk54g router (one antenna) with the pcmcia wireless-b card. This setup works great, almost anywere in the house.

we have a new pc for the kids that is really far, even the laptop cant see the wireless network. So I purchased a wmp54g pci wireless card. I could not see the network of course. I then got a wre54g expander. Both the laptop and desktop with the PCI card CAN see the access point, and the signal is very strong from that far away place, leading me to believe that the expander works. I have done a reset on it, and pressed the auto config button. for some reason, I cannot access the internet. the monitoring software confirms a connection the access point, but no internet. I figured with ipconfig that no address can be assigned, therefore windows supplies the 169.xxx address, as no dhcp server responds....when the laptop gets closer the the wrk54g, it then recieves a proper IP, enabling the internet. That leads me to believe that the expander is the culprit....but WHY !!!!

I am a bit desperate here, and dont know where to go next. waiting for a call from linksys...any help appreciated...

WRK54G does not have WDS which is a pre requisite when using the WRE54G. To keep it short, It does not work.

refer to www.linksys.com/kb and answer ID - 1041.
