There is presently no third party firmware for the WRT54GX, so you will not be able to place it into client mode.

can't the GX be used in client mode with the default firmware out of the box? On the linksys product page it shows: Internet-sharing Router, 4-port Switch, with a built in speed and range enhanced Wireless-G (802.11g) Access Point --

    Any idea?

im sure it could...i would look into 3rd party firmware tho...DD-WRT right now only supports the WRT54G/GS that i know of...

The WRT54GX cannot be a client or a bridge out of the box.

But the GX is completly different than the G or GS. I believe the GX is built off an atheros chipset instead of broadcom.

If you have a WRT54GX here is a newly discovered security issue with its firmware. This flaw can give any one your dsl and your router admin password.

it would be nice if the DD-WRT would support the GX that would make things SO much easier...
