WRT is a brick. Revive it and it becomes a brick again!

I tried to upgrade my WRT to the dd firmware. It turned into a brick. I can use the pin 16 trick and get it to ping. I then use the tftp to download the official linksys 4.20.7 firmware. It says the firmware upgrade was a success. The red light slowly starts flashing faster until it stays on all the time. The router is now a brick again until I ground pin 16 again. Any ideas?

Unit revived in the wee hours of the morning.

After getting the thing to ping for about the one hundredth time, I used the official tftp software from linksys to load up an old version official linksys firmware. The unit did not recover but did not stop responding to a ping. I then used the official Linksys 4.20 executable file and recovered the brick. I have now flashed up to v23 wrt and am very happy.

I've got the same problem. The router is responding to ping, but doesn't wanna flash via tftp. Any Ideas why? Please let me know. Thanks.

If you are looking to sell your brick let me know.

Sometimes the only way to recover a brick is to build a jtag cable and clear the nvram. It's not easy, but sometimes it works. (I just bit the bullet and ended up buying a new v2.2 on ebay when this happened to me a while back)

If you're not willing to go that far, I'll buy your brick.

    Let me know.
