WRT300N won't allow connections

I have a customer for whom I tried to install a WRT300n v1.1 router. Client computers will either not connect at all, or go into a connect/disconnect cycle. Every once in a while, it will stay connected, but only until a reboot. When I do have a connection, if I monitor signal strength, it fluctuates constantly.

I swapped it out for another wrt300n -- same issues. Swapped it for a wrt300n v1.0 with DD-WRT -- same thing. I'm going to try a WRT54G in there, and see what happens. I was going for the 300n for the extended range, since Linksys disco'd the SRX series, but at this point I'm ot of ideas, except pulling cables.

    Anybody have any thoughts?
