hey guys, i just got the wrt350n and am running the firmware version v1.05.8beta.

i currently have a ntfs drive attached and shared - works good. the mybook 500gb.

but i have heard that it also supports ext3. I have tried formatting it to ext3 and i can't setup a share. I doesnt recognize the partition. it lists the model number of the drive and the space correctly. it lists 500gb "unallocated space" - which should be the ext3 partition and an "all partitions" .

i am using gparted to format the parition. i can set the disklabel type. I had it on mac disklabel type (the drive was hfs+). i cant remember exactly what it said, but it didnt list it with the "unallocated space".

i changed the disklabel type to msdos and it listed it as the "unallocated space" as i mentioned above.

so is there a specific disklabel type i should use? there are about 10 different choices. I guess i could go and try every one, but i thought i would try my luck on here first.

    thanks

I tried several months back to try to get it to recognize a ext3 partition but without any luck. If you do a search here you should be able to find my posts from back then on the subject. My conclusion and the conclusion of others is that it is just FAT and NTFS for the 350N.

well that sucks.. but its ok. Does it at least let you setup multiple user accounts?

the only thing i don't like about NTFS or FAT32 is having to defrag the drive.
