    I've injured my asus wrt500p

I'd got dd-wrt on it and I was moving to tomato and something's gone wrong.
I've tried tftping the ddwrt generic build back on it but it's been unsuccessful, I've noticed that its still supporting telnet and the webif but my old password is no good and I've tried lots of combinations of user:root/password:admin admin/admin etc. but to no avail

anyone got any good ideas? I keep on thinking that telnet's got some random password set and if I could get on I could start sshd and I'd be away.

for anyone googling and ending up here...

the trick seems to be to press the reset button when you switch the router on and to wait for the power symbol to flash (puts router in recovery mode?)
the router's IP is back to the default: (and not whatever it was set to)
and it's a good idea to connect the semi-bricked router to a good router and flash like that rather than connecting bad-router direct to laptop
