you will probably have to wait for an updated firmware since the v4 uses different hardware then previous versions.

this is only a alpha version which includes all the new drivers, features and much much more. on tuesday i will get a v4 testrouter. so i can test v23 directly on this unit. but i see no problems to run v22 on this unit. but if you have some more days time, i can give you a answer

v22 does not work on the new Linksys V4 hardware. I tried it last night and the upgrade failed.

i tried it now (my neighbor hat such a unit)
you just have to use tftp. webinterface upgrade wont work since the linksys firmware checks for the new firmware version. for the rest it works without problems

    I have tried v22r2 on a WRT54G v3.1 fw4.20.6
    It seems ok at first.
But once I apply some QOS setting on it
The router will hang and the power light keep blinking and I can no longer access the web interface or telnet and cannot use tftp to re-flash it again
I have to disasemble the unit and get it into safemode to re-flash it to the original firmware.

I have tried it two times and got the same result.. so I suspend that v22 may not compatible with new hardware

Is there a how-to on how to upgrade via TFTP? When I try, I get a password failed message.

You are expected to reset the router to default (30 sec. reset) which would set password to admin. When you run TFTP based upgrade with password obviously set to admin.

Many people ignore the reset to default step which screws up the upgrade process. I do not have any logical explanation why. Anyone is willing to guess?

slight differences in the way different firmwares handle storing their options. Or possibly nondefault options not be available in all firmwares.
