 [marq=down]Having a horrible time trying to hook this router up with my comcast cable modem. I tried everything: Followed direction in the "Quick Insatallation" pamphlet, tried the "Setup Wizard", contacted Comcast (they can't help me), Set a static IP address using the troubleshooting directions. Now what!?

what kind of router/ap do you have. and i dont think that comcast uses satistic ip. dont they use dhcp? i could be wrong. try rebooting both the router/ap and cablemodem and what type of firmware do you have?

Did things work when your computer was directly connected to the Cable Modem? If so, the cable modem is probably looking for MAC Address for your network card. Since the MAC Address is different for the Router, the modem can't connect.

Access the Router Setup program, select MAC Address Clone, enter the MAC Address of your Network Card, select the Enable option and Save the setting. If you don't know what your MAC Address is, (who would?) there a help link in that section which goes through the steps to determine it.

If that doesn't work, you might try disconnecting the cable from the cable modem, disconnect the modem from the router and turn off the power for everything for 10 minutes. Reconnect everything and THEN turn on all power. The modem may decide at that point that the MAC Address of the Router is the correct one.

Finally, if these don't work, call the Linksys support line. It may take multiple phone calls but they do seem committed to helping. Especially after you get a case number and can use the "other" 800 number. At least it worked for me.

    Good luck.
