WRT54G: activate W-Lan from Desktop

I have a WRT54G (linksys firmware v4.20.6) and everything works fine. But as I usually don't use the W-Lan I would like to have it deactivated.
I wanted to ask if there is any mean (script etc.) to have the W-Lan activated just by running some script (obviously while connected to the router via cable).

Why not simply turn off the wireless broadcast in the setup?

the thing is it would be pretty difficult to explain the procedure to some of my family member, as there interest and knowledge of technic tends towards zero.

Moreover, I don't want to shut it down completely, but to make it easy to my family members to swith it on and off by simply double cklicking a shortcut on the desktop...

And as it seems, that the routers software is more or less controlled by java-script, I thought it should be possible to do so (actually I tried to decifer it myself, but I din't really get the hang on it...)
