Hi, wonder if anyone can help

    Set up:

    ADSL2MUE and WRT54G

    Machine 1:
    win xp pro
Hard wired to the router through motherboard's own ethernet port.
    Everything works fine.

    Machine 2:
    win 98 se
connecting to the router using WUSB11 wireless adapter.

Looking at wireless LAN montior on machine 2, machine 2 can connect to the router/AP but internet cannot be found.

    Wonder if anyone can help?

    Thanks in advance

do you setup the correct SSID or if you setup a wpa or wep key, you need to type them in your network connection configuration!

    Good luck

Are you using static or dynamic IP addresses? If you are using static make certain you set the gateway at the local address of the WRT54G and set the DNS addresses of the DNS servers on your Router status Page, otherwise you will not resolving the URL to IP Addresses and cannot access the Internet. I do not remember how to renew and release the IP Addresses for a DOS Prompt in Windows 98SE. You will have to look it up, but if you can see if you have a valid IP Address and valid DBS addresses on the adapter it would help.

Thanks for your responses. I did not actually get to the root cause of the problem. However, not long ago the machine running 98SE blew up so I got a new machine with XP and wireless networking works fine on it (lot less hassle too).

I did notice that with XP, supplying an incorrect WEP key will still allows you to sign on to the router but not access the internet. I have a feeling this may have been the cause of my problems on the 98SE machine.

I have a spare box I might test this theory on if i get time in the future.
