wrt54g (blinking led) only acts as network switch

I have a WRT54G ver. 2, using the latest DD-WRT firmware. Last night, I was flipping fuses to debug problems with my AC when the linksys stopped functioning as expected.

    Here's the symptoms I have:
    • rapidly blinking power led
    • DMZ led comes on and stays on forever if I power on with reset button held down
    • DMZ led also stays on forever if I short pins 15&16 or pins 16&17 on the flash chip
    • I can *never* ping the router at 192.168.1.1, whether I power up with/without reset button held or with/without flash pins shorted
    • router is always behaving as a network switch (or a transparently bridged router), so I have a bridged network between my WAN port and my LAN ports.

I have done an exhaustive search and couldn't find anyone with a similar problem (we might not agree on the language used to describe the "switch" behavior). Does anyone have any idea what might have happened here? Or if it's possible to get my router back?
