I´m going to buy the WRT54G-D2, because atm I have a D-Link DI-624+ and yes, it´s crap (however I dont remember what price it had, I got it from my provider Arcor when I changed my connection to DSL; I think it was for free ^^ ). I heard that the WRT54G-D2 is a german WRT54G v3.1 . This is important because I want a version which can use the firmware of 3rd persons, because I heard that they are much better than the original one. So can you tell me that my informations are right? The standard WRT54G is not in many shops in Germany and I can´t be sure that I wouldn´t get a V5.0, right? If not, should I buy the WRT54GS or a WRT54GL? Another Question: Which firmware should I use? I read the comparison-chart between hyperWRT, DD-WRT, Alchemy and Talisman. Nice chart, but it doesn´t tell a noob like me very much. I want a simple firmware which is stabile, fast and offers the function "Adjustable Xmit Power" (which all of the four have), because I think I will use 100 mW (that´s the maximum allowed in Germany). It doesn´t have to have 100000 functions, I only need the basics. I heard hyperWRT is not very different to the original one, it has just a few more features + it is faster and more stabile. So it should be the right one, right? Or do you think there would be a better one for me? Talisman is no choise for me, because I am not willing to pay 20$ each year.
