Does the WRT54G have a USB port (like the WAP11) which can be used to do the initial configuration?

No, you must connect via a regular network cable. Then open a browser window and put 192.168.1.1 in the address bar. This will egt you in to change settings. After the initial setup, you can do changes wirelessly. Beware that some changes will cause you to lose your wireless connection.
