WRT54G doesn't get a DHCP lease from cable modem

    Hello!

Everything worked fine. A few weeks ago it began with some irregularly connection drops. But after a "DHCP Renew" in the router GUI (WRT54G Ver. 2) or a power out the cable modem delievered the IP as usual. Since yesterday the router no more gets a lease from the cable modem. When the PC is connected directly to the cable modem an IP is correctly given. So, the fault has obviously to be somewhere on the router. But where? The GUI is accessible without problems.

I was running HyperWRT (Firmware Version : v4.30.1, HyperWRT 2.1b1 +tofu11), flashed back to different HyperWRT versions (of course with factory defaults and reboots) and the official Linksys firmware, no change. Resets have been tried.

    Any suggestion?

    Regards, Markus

Weird, I'm having the exact same issue with a WRT54GXv2 and regular firmware. It started for me on Friday, and now it's happened 3 times. The only solution is to attach the computer directly to the modem to get the DHCP lease and then add the router back in. It works after that until I lose connectivity about a day later.

I have a Speedstream 5100 DSL modem and SBC Internet in the Bay Area. How about you? I wonder if SBC was messing with something in their network, because it's been happening all of a sudden...

The customer service of the cable company (Cablecom Switzerland) has remotely resetted the cable modem. Now it works again, don't ask me why... Just plug out the power wasn't sufficient.

I will try this when the problem shows up again. It is strange, it occurs only when i run the router with any tofu version.

    Thanks anyway
