I recently purchased the Linksys WRT54G wireless router. The main reason was for it's high compadibility ratings with the Nintendo DS. I can now play my DS online, but my web browsing has suffered. Now when I try to browse the internet i get slow load speeds and half the time the page won't even load. At the moment I'm running:

    Windows XP Home Edition
    Firefox v 1.0.7
Adelphia High Speed Internet (It's a cable connection)
    Linksys WRT54G v 1.002

I have no idea what's wrong and I'm looking for the right settings with my browser and router for the best browsing possible. If anyone could help me I'd be very thankful

    Thanks

You have a WRT54G version 5, which has a completely different OS and firmware suite than the other WRT54G, including all of the bugs associated with new firmware. You can search on v5, or look at the sticky warning about the v5 model in each of forums here to see the issues. First choice would be to return it/trade it for a v4 or earlier with a very stable and mature firmware suite, as well as 3rd part software options. Second choice would be to look at http://www.linksysinfo.org/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=10945 and try the new beta firmware. Comments seem to indicate it solves many of the problems, and if you are patient Linksys will probably solve most of the others. But it is not a Linux machine, and does not run third party firmware, which incorporates both fixes and extensions to the WRT54G. And you are a beta tester for the firmware.

Thanks for the help, it would appear that the firmware is the true problem of my slow load times. I think I'll grab the beta and see how that goes.
