WRT54G New Security Features

    linksys has designed a some security measures to prevent people from using third party firmware the new WRT V8 Routers use a different Code Patern in the firmware so if you are trying to use third party firmware that is not that exact code patern the router will not accept the firmware & flashing and tftp don't work if the code patern is not the the same:mad::mad::mad: :confused::angry:

    if a anyone can crack it and design a special firmware for that type of router let me know

    Those over at DD-WRT have successfully put DD-WRT onto the ver. 8. But its done with a JTAG cable rather than through the GUI. Still in the testing phase I believe

    Maybe mini or micro DD-WRT (v.8.0 has only 2 MB of flash).
