I have a couple of WRT54G's running peer to peer . these run nicely, but everytime a 11b joins it falls back to 11b.
    normal:
Mode: Ad Hoc RSSI: -65 dBm noise: -81 dBm Channel: 1
BSSID: XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX Capability: IBSS ShortPre ShortSlot
    Supported Rates: [ 1(b) 2(b) 5.5(b) 6 9 11(b) 12 18 24 36 48 54 ]
    when an 11b joins:
Mode: Ad Hoc RSSI: -71 dBm noise: -86 dBm Channel: 1
    BSSID: XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX Capability: IBSS ShortPre
    Supported Rates: [ 1(b) 2(b) 5.5(b) 11(b) ]
tried all wl gmode /protected/override/shortslot , etc stills falls back to 11b.
Not implemented in ibss driver? like a lot more wl command which don't work in ibss mode.

That is the normal operation of the router to use the the fastest rate of the slowest client that is connected to it.

What is the use of '(wl) gmode only and other modes then? Itention is to have no 11b traffic. in AP (BSS) this works
