Does anyone know how to go about getting a new power cord for a wrt54g? I've emailed linksys several times without any response. Thanks

You can use a substitute adapter. The WRT54G version 1.0 has a 5 volt DC 2.0 Ampere adapter. The other versions had a 12 volt DC 1.0 ampere adapter. The center terminal is postive and the outside terminal is negative.

I was told that the linksys power cords are proprietary and I'd have to get it from linksys. I guess thats not true?

You can try to get a power supply from Linksys. The use of a non-Linksys power supply can void your warrantee, but as long as the power supply has the same specifications, there should not be a problem.
